What does discuss mean?
Discuss: Essentially this is a written debate where you are using your skill at reasoning, backed up by carefully selected evidence to make a case for and against an argument, or point out the advantages and disadvantages of a given context. Remember to arrive at a conclusion.
- This SAC will be an analytical essay. This is an essay that requires you to make an extended argument in response to a prompt.
- You will have 90 minutes to complete the SAC this is made up of 10 minutes of reading time and 80 minutes of writing time
- You MUST demonstrate planning. You should use some of your writing time to plan how you will respond.
How you will be assessed
- You will be marked against an assessment rubric which you can access on this website.
Tips
- Ensure you read the question carefully
- Use the 10 minutes of reading time to plan out your response. This plan should include: your contention, topic sentences, and evidence you will include in each paragraph.
- Plan an essay in response to the following question (use your notes and the resources provided on this webpage to help you)
- "Protest movements are largely ineffectual at achieving change." Discuss.
